Domain History

Formerly known as the Shui Mui Collective, the original incarnation of this network was created in the fall of 2001 after reading Takasuka Yue's sweet and comical manga series Good Morning Call. The name of the collective "shui mui," was rooted in my poor transliteration of "xiao mei," which translates from Mandarin to "little sister." The choice of the name was made in recognition and acknowledgement of my Chinese background in face of my fascination with Japanese pop culture at the time, which moreorless persists to this day.

Initially, I wanted my domain to be "ShuiMui.NET" but when I had been discussing potential domain names with my friend, my beloved Yu-chan of Yuna.WS, and it had occurred to me that "LOVEppears.NET" was not registered. LOVEppears, otherwise known as and pronounced as 'Love Appears,' is the name of Japanese-pop princess Hamasaki Ayumi's second original album title, which also so happens to be my first and favourite Hamasaki Ayumi album. In my own humble opinion, LOVEppears is very functional for a domain name. Although the name does relate to Hamasaki Ayumi, it is not so blatantly 'Ayu' that it would be awkward for the domain to have sites outside the subject of Hamasaki Ayumi. So, if I had any way of purchasing a domain name at the time I would have so registered it, but I did not, so I just had to hope that no one would register it before I could.

I don't recall when. but I must have told my dear Nanny-chi, lepencil about LOVEppears.NET because in mid-December of 2003 he had asked me about buying the domain for me until I would have the means of paying for it. My older sister had turned 18 that year and was supposed to have a credit card but the process of actually obtaining one was long and tedious, not to mention, she's a terrible procrastinator, thus:

LOVEppears.NET was registered by my beloved Nanny AKA lepencil in the winter of 2003.

The LOVEppears Network was created by ShuiMei and is in no way affiliated with the subjects of the websites within the collective and makes no claim of any connection.
